How do I remove the last remaining wax from my candle vessel so I can reuse it?
If the remaining wax is liquid, we suggest to carefully pour the wax into a lined waste container. Never pour hot wax into your drain as it can cause clogging problems and/or damage your garbage disposal. After the wax has been poured out, use a spoon or a butter knife to carefully unstick the wick from the bottom of the container. With a paper towel, wipe down as much of the excess wax as possible before cleaning out container with warm soapy water.
If the remaining wax is solid, you can use one of the following methods:
Freezer Method:
Place the jar in the freezer for a few hours. Once the jar is cold to touch, use a spoon or butter knife to crack the wax up into small pieces to be discarded into the trash or reuse in a wax warmer. If the wick tab is still stuck, carefully wedge the spoon or butter knife underneath to force it free. Once as much wax is removed as possible, wash out your jar with warm soapy water.
Oven Method:
After burning your candle, allow the glass to cool so it’s safe to handle. Then, scrape out as much wax as you can with a butter knife or spoon. Place the jar upside down on a rimmed baking pan lined with sheets of parchment paper. Let the jar warm up in the oven at it’s lowest temperature for about 10-15 minutes. Once wax has melted, go ahead and carefully take the pan out of the oven and place onto a heat-safe surface. Carefully pour any remaining wax into a lined waste bin. Again, never pour hot wax into your drain! Once the jar has cooled enough, carefully wash your jar out with warm water and soap until the wax residue is gone. Pour some more warm water in the jar and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, use a butter knife to remove the wick tab and sticker from the bottom of the jar. Remove the label from your jar. The warm water will make it easier to remove.
OR
Hot Water Method:
Heat up some water in a kettle and pour the hot water into the candle jar. The remaining wax at the bottom of the jar will begin to melt and float to the top of the jar as it cools. Once the wax is completely cooled, you can use a butter knife to scrape out the wax. Pat the leftover wax dry with a towel and use in a wax warmer. Wash the candle jar with warm soapy water.
Hope these tips helped! Now your candle jar is ready to be repurposed!
